What can I get through Interlibrary Loan?
Answer
Participating libraries will loan a myriad of materials including books, copies of journal articles, pamphlets, microfiche and microfilm and some audio-visual materials including audiobooks, DVDs and videos.
With more libraries converting to e-books and e-journals, lending becomes more complicated and is based on license agreement for each vendor. Some vendors do allow borrowing of electronic materials, but the preferred method is still print books and articles.
Libraries typically restrict or deny the following loans: reference books, entire journal volumes or issues, rare or expensive materials, archives, original primary documents, and some DVDs or videos that are restricted by license.
