How and where can I pay fines?

Answer

Overdue fines are calculated as follows:

  • Circulating collection is $.10 a day per item.
  • Interlibrary loan is $.25 a day per item.
  • Reserves collection is $1.00 a day or $.25 an hour for 2-hour check-out.
  • Electronic Equipment is $25.00 a day per item.

Books placed in book drops are back-dated to the previous time that drop box was emptied. Fees are calculated by our computer system, and are based on due date and the date the items are actually returned.

You can pay fines at the circulation desk with cash or check. Credit cards are no longer accepted. You may also choose to have your library balance transferred to the Bursar's Office if you have a balance of more than $5.00. You will need to fill out a form to do so. Balances over $5.00 remaining at the end of the semester will be transferred to the Bursar's Office.

At 35 days overdue, the student is charged for the replacement cost of the book, processing fee of $5.00, and the maximum overdue fee of $10.00. If the books are returned prior to 100 days the fine will be pro-rated and replacement costs and processing fees are waived. If books are not returned, the balance is transferred to the Bursar's Office and borrowing privileges are suspended.
